Patterson HistoryPatterson Elementary School was opened and dedicated in the fall of 1993 in honor of the Patterson family. The Patterson family consisted of five brothers and one sister who came from Dumphrieshire, Scotland in the early 1800's and were among the earliest settlers in Naperville's Wheatland Township. Family members count as many as 35 educators among the Patterson descendants. In selecting the school name, the Indian Prairie District 204 Board of Education chose to recognize the family's contributions to developing the Wheatland Township area and the family's commitment to education. Patterson Elementary School is a first through fifth grade elementary building located in the Ashbury subdivision north of 104th Street and east of Book Road. Patterson 10th Anniversary Notes2003 marked our 10th Year Anniversary.
Quick Facts About Patterson
Why the Prairie Dog?Our mascot, the prairie dog, was named respectively for Indian "Prairie" School District. Prairie dogs are burrowing animals that live in colonies called "towns". Ironically our Patterson Postal Club originally gave each classroom a street name thus making Patterson a town with over 35 individual streets. Some of which are named: Caring Way, Clifford Lane, Blast Off Blvd., Learning Lane, Pleasant Parkway and Traveler's Turnpike and of course, Prairie Dog Street. Our Logo
